Shafaq News / Emirates Airlines announced on Tuesday that it will avoid flying in Iraqi airspace in anticipation from the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria “ISIS” organization to target civilian flights by rockets, similar to targeting Malaysian Airlines plane’s incident in Ukraine.

The company’s president Tim Clark said in an interview published in Britain’s Times newspaper published that , “We have to take action and confront things,” pointing that “ to such a procedure would prove to the public that the global airline passenger safety is to take seriously”.

The company will begin flights within a week, rally around the Iraqi airspace that UAE- flights fly from Dubai to Europe, according to the British newspaper.

The decision comes after the crash of a Boeing 777 belonging to the Malaysian Airlines, carrying 298 people, on a trip MH-17, between Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur on July 17 in an area controlled by the separatists east Ukraine.

Iraq is facing an attack waged by extremists, led by ISIS organization since last June, which controls large areas north and west of the country.

The Times said that the United States is investigating to see if these gunmen have seized missiles that can shoot down civilian aircraft while flying in Syria.
